Mary Lou Carter Sears
September 4, 1936 - January 16, 2020

Mary Lou (Carter) Sears of Fayetteville, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.

Born September 4, 1936 at Gatewood, she was the daughter of Clarence and Christine Carter.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Roy Lee Sears and daughter Crystal Sears Ellison.

Mary Lou was a graduate of Fayeyteville High School. Upon graduation she moved to Washington, D.C. where she was a secretary for the U.S. Department of the Navy. She later returned to Fayeyteville and was a Postmaster and small business owner.

Mary Lou enjoyed going to church, gardening and reading. She also was an avid Fayetteville Pirates and WVU fan football fan.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Renee Shockey and husband Mark of Fayetteville, son-in-law Butch Ellison also of Fayetteville; grandsons Jonathan Shockey and wife Jessica of Fayetteville and Chris Shockey of Nashville, TN; and great-grandson Jeremy Shockey. She loved her family with all her heart.

Services for Mary Lou will be conducted at 2 pm Monday, January 20, 2020, at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill with Pastors Jim Mitchell and Robert Morey officiating. Interment will follow at Huse Memorial Park in Fayetteville.

Friends may call from 1-2pm on Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.
