Obituary

Betty Lou Gilbert Burns passed away December 12, 2019 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV after a long illness. She is now at peace among her many friends and family.

Born November 11, 1938 in Fayetteville, WV she was the daughter to the late Bessie Jane Ellis Gilbert and Benjamin Franklin Gilbert. Also preceding her in death were sisters; Anna Laurie, Ellen Franklin, Minnie Mae, Ella Louise and Ruth; loving nephews Jack Wickline and Eddie Beck.

During her life, she spent many years as a caregiver to her mother and father. She was a loving wife and mother. During her life she enjoyed crocheting, listening to old fashion Baptist Gospel music and watching westerns. If you knew Betty, you would also know she loved birds; her house decorated with many birds and bird houses. Betty was not only a homemaker, but an independent Sales Representative of Avon for over 25+ years.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two children; Dale Franklin Burns, and wife Kim; and Louise Burns Miller. Two grandchildren Jennifer Christine Miller and Chase Franklin Miller, all of Oak Hill, WV. A loving sister-in-law Margaret Katherine Burns Wickline of Lewisburg, WV. Several nieces and nephews including Patsy Beck, of Parma Heights, OH.

A memorial to her life will be at High Lawn Funeral Home, Oak Hill, WV on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm preceding the service.
