Anna Nellie Grabowski Redman, entered into eternal rest on June 6, 2019. A lifelong resident of Scarbro, Anna was born on June 18, 1928 to the late Anna and Tony Grabowski.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jesse Redman, who passed away in 2002. Also, preceding her were her sisters, Mary Zandlo and Eva Chornobay.
Anna was a homemaker but also spent 30 years working at Ayers Grocery in Oak Hill. She also worked at Garcia’s Grocery and Woolworth.
She enjoyed embroidery work and was always making beautiful items to give to her family. She loved to read and was a frequent visitor to Oak Hill Public Library. More than anything, she loved being with her family. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother and was the oldest living member of five generations. Her family adored her and will miss her dearly.
Anna was a very generous person and gave even when she didn’t have a lot for herself. She loved feeding the neighborhood children with treats.
Anna is survived by her sons; James Redman and wife Mary, of Beckley, and Mark Redman of Fayetteville and daughter, Marcia Arbogast and husband Larry or Scarbro. She is also survived by her sister Elizabeth Stewart of Orlando, Florida.
Sher was the best Granny in the world to Amy (Bill), Carey (P.J.), J.A. (Debra), Shawn (Sarah), Mary (Brian), Chris (Heather), Bret (John), Christian, Trey (Tiffanie), Jessica, Ty, Reese, Ava, Noah, Claire, Marley, Braylon, Julien, Berkley, Quinn, Hadley, Rhiannon, Silas and Ivy Jane. She was also blessed with three step-grandchildren, Kim, Matt and Angela, many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Services will be on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 12:00pm at High Lawn Funeral Home. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service.
